An introduction to the Kansas Dept of Health and Environment's "If You Are Pregnant"
We are required to make available to you information about the risks of
an abortion and of childbirth. This is so you can better make an informed
decision. The law requires that you receive a copy of a booklet, "If
You Are Pregnant" at least 24-hours prior to your procedure. We feel that a high resolution
color scan of the booklet provided on the internet will legally meet that requirement (even more
so if you print out a "...written copy..."). If you wish, a hardcopy of the booklet is available
at any Kansas public library, Kansas hospital, Kansas family practice or OB-GYN physician's office,
including us.
The information in that booklet is fairly correct. The section on
the medical abortion is a bit vague. If it is a methotrexate & misoprotol
medical abortion it is done no later than 7-8 weeks lmp. If it is a
mifepristone (RU-486) medical abortion it is done by the 9th week lmp. Mifepristone
is available. Prostaglandin only (like misoprostol) induction (premature
delivery) has been done on later cases in other countries.
That's all and thanks. On to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment booklet "If You Are Pregnant"
