Appointment Days and Times

We will provide service to Two-day patients, those who do Prep (preparations) one day, and then the abortion on another day, BEFORE those who can only come one day. For those doing a Two-day appointment, Prep Day will take 40 minutes, all fees are collected, can be done without your Support Person on Prep Day, and then on Surgery Day the appointment will be about 2 hours for you and your Support Person.
Those doing a One-day appointment arrive between 6:30am and 7:30am, pay, do their sonography, and paperwork, and then wait 6+ hours, while the Two-day cases come and go through first. Any scheduling gaps will be filled with One-day patients on a First-Come-First-Served basis. This is to reduce delays caused by the disorganized people (50-75%) who come un-prepared (late, wrong paperwork, no ID, more weeks along than they thought and no more money, less weeks than they thought i.e. not pregnant or miscarried, chewing gum, brought children to the waiting room, support person can't stay, can't read quickly, language barriers) and delay everybody else.
You will be re-scheduled if more than 15 minutes late, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Hours Mon-Fri, 8:30am -4:30pm
Sundays Closed.
Mondays Scheduling and pregnancy testing, No Sonography or Prep.
Prep days (40 minutes Prep) Tues, Thu, Fri, 8:30a, 9:30a, 10:30a, 11:30a, 1p, 2p, 3p

Weeks of pregnancy are as determined by our sonography given as Last-Menstrual-Period (LMP), not from conception, and using the Queenan sonography scale. Surgical Abortions include antibiotic prescription, sonography, and conscious sedation (sleep).

Surgical abortions include antibiotics prescription, sonogram, conscious sedation, and minor counseling if needed:

Medical Abortions (by mifepristone pill, 200mg Mifeprex), for 7.0 weeks LMP or less, you must be 18yo or older, within 50 mile radius, and costs cover follow-up sonogram visit. Mifepristone taken orally on first day and then misoprostol in cheeks 12 to 36 hours later which induces the miscarry. You must come back within two weeks for re-sono, but will receive $50 refund. $540
Ultasound sonography, if done separately, for gestational dating only and not to determine gender or health of pregnancy. Other Rules and Information

Cash, money orders, and credit cards (with State ID)(MC/Visa/Discover/AmEx) are acceptable forms of payment. NO CHECKS. You must pay up front before the procedure. We no longer file insurance, but we can give you an itemized receipt with CPT and ICD-9 codes used to file claims yourself.
Credit card prices are cash discount prices plus $1 for the first $50 and each $50 thereafter. Debit card prices are cash price plus $1 transaction fee.
Fees include sonography, Conscious Sedation, laboratory tests, and one month's cycle of birth control when samples are available. If it is determined by ultrasound that you are not pregnant, or are too far gestationally for our clinic, we will only charge you for the sonography. If however you change your mind later to not have an abortion we will deduct fees for the services done: sonography, labwork/sterile tray, and if applicable, the statutory counseling for minors. Fees from our previous sonogram within 30 days can be applied towards an abortion later. When minors come for a Judicial Waiver, sonography fees are collected first, and then if less than 15 weeks, the fees for statutory counseling.
For our surgical abortions we offer Local anesthesia or Conscious Sedation anesthesia. Local anesthesia lidocaine numbs the cervix, you will feel intense uterine cramping for about 5-7 minutes, period-like cramping after that, and you can drive yourself home. Twilight sleep, also known as conscious sedation, uses an additional hypnotic drug to make you fall asleep, forget the cramping if you feel it, but a support person MUST accompany and drive you home. Some women with a narcotics tolerance may not go to sleep. Twilight sleep can leave you feeling drunk and dry-mouth'ed, sometimes nauseous. Patients who are 12 weeks or more must do twilight sleep, and may be a two-part, one day procedure, so be prepared for a long stay. Aid For Women belongs to the National Abortion Federation which sets standards for quality care. If you do not have your abortion with us, be sure to have it at a clinic which is a NAF member. We have web-links to the other nearby NAF clinics.
